Reflection:
Educational Technology, also termed as EdTech, is
a field which is concerned with the practice of creating, using and managing
appropriate educational methods, technological process and resources for the
ultimate goal of facilitating e-learning and understanding the impacts of
technology on learners.
Educational
Technology is very useful in the classroom because it arouses and sustains the
interest and attention of the students. It catches students’ attention and
interest to listen to the whole class discussion and also concretize and give
specific concepts and ideas to promote meaningful learning. It creates learning
more interactive when using technology in education. Learners participate in
the class activities and able to interact with the teacher, co-learners and on
the materials used. With the use of Edtech, education will be more accessible
to more people. With all those strengths listed above, Educational Technology
also had demerits or weaknesses. This can be proved with the different scenarios
we encountered in using the different types of technology. It is when LCD
projector is not compatible with the computer used, when the audio-video clip
does not work as planned and when the CD cannot be played on the CD player.
That’s why we should check and prepare everything before the class starts to
avoid these drawbacks.
Teacher
should be very familiar with the technology he will be using. It is better if
he has a rich background of experiences about the devices he has chosen. He
must also consider the connection that should be built between and among
experiences that is provided by the various educational technologies. Aside
from that, teacher should use teaching strategy and may use the principles of
teaching of Educational Technology to avoid isolation and so that students will
be motivated to learn and could facilitate meaningful learning. I believed that
this way of teaching was being portrait by my EdTech teacher, where he showed
his expertise on the different activities and involves students in the
teaching-learning process. Thank you so much sir for understanding and
extending our deadline. J That’s why I try my very best in making this
e-portfolio so that the chance you gave to us is worth it.
Therefore, Educational Technology is not just a course
to be taken for completion for a semester but an unending experience that let
you cope up the future world that is slowly dependent of the fast changing
technology.
